12 Statement Umbrellas to own this monsoon

It’s been raining in New York and sure people have a love-hate relationship with them. Some find the rains gloomy and some simply can’t get enough of it.

Whichever side you are on, the cheering pill in this weather is a stylish umbrella. Umbrellas are a whole new level of accessorizing. If you are paying attention to the street, you may not even have to look further for inspiration.

But, we certainly have to confess that what excites about a drizzle, apart from the obvious, is a great umbrella. We love making a statement with them. It sometimes, speaks louder than even our outfits. Leandra Medine of Man Repeller was spotted 3 days ago at Stella Mc Cartney resort, carrying a floral piece.

We also loved the transparent number complete with lips and eyes spotted during New York Fashion Week.

So what are some styles of umbrellas that we are recommending to you this season? See our pick of 12 statement umbrellas.

Checks and Stripes
No news that these two are trending in the apparel section. But can accessories be far behind then? Both designers and ready to wear fashion brands have something to offer.

We love the Top Shop Black and white for its bold simplicity.
Burberry chose pink and red stripes. Can you say no to the color combination?
Kate Spade New York gave the classic black and white a fashion twist with quirky pink border.
Marc by Marc Jacobs made our heart beat skip with its imperfect hand-drawn like checks.

Quirky Prints
Let’s move on to fun and quirky prints. If we could we would really take one of each.

• Felix Ray tells rain to go away with a heart!
• In another of his designs, he printed musical notes on a transparent umbrella, asking you truly want to sing in the rain.
• Marc Jacobs went the pop art way by printing lipstick marks all over his umbrella.
• The Box Boutique printed beautiful Russian scenery on theirs.

Fancy Trims
A basic and classic umbrella transforms into statement just by the virtue of unique trims. These two are great examples.

Topshop introduced pink color in a transparent umbrella with those frilly trims. Tell us if you are not in love.
In another one, they transformed a black umbrella by laser cutting it and giving it red trims. How lovely!

Flora Prints
Yes, Leandra was right on trend. But which ones did we love?

Black and white roses from ASOS, such a classic. Love that it has a white handle instead of black!
A huge pink flower becomes your umbrella, in the second piece from ASOS. Complete with petals and a yellow center.
