Workwear Week: Shift Dresses for all body shapes

So we are amidst workwear week, and we discussed printed sheath dresses yesterday. Today we discuss shift dresses and all in color. No black and whites here, but let’s go color. Because your work wardrobe can have color, you can deviate from the neutral hues.

The shift dresses aren’t all the strictest definition of shift, but an overlap with the tent dresses too at times. The contemporary sense of the shift dress is taken into account. So the shift dress is something that does not hug the body, is not for fitting, even at the waist. It is flare-y but slightly boxy.

So, let’s see what kind of a shift dress will flatter your body shape and is a must-have in your work wardrobe.

Ruler
The shift dress was truly created for your body shape. So embrace it! We love this magenta shift for its black details completely. Pair it with black kitten heels, a black bag and a pair of earrings and you are good to go.

Pear
The really boxy shift dress is not really your friend. It will be too loose at the top and too fitted at the bottom. So instead you need a shift that has room for your bottom. This burgundy shift is the perfect example. You can rock it with a shirt necklace, animal print heels and a camel colored bag.

Apple
A similar situation like the pear holds true for an apple. The blue shift dress has enough give for the mid-section but also the sleeves add a lot of drama to this dress. It is wonderfully minimal yet striking. Pair with black and white wedges, a black structured bag and a watch.

Inverted Triangle
This color block shift dress feels like the perfect fit for you. Black skims, so it does that for your upper body and the bright orange draws attention to everywhere else. Pair with black and gold pair of block heels, a bag and watch.

Hourglass
This is a shift dress with a difference. The curved seam defines your waist but only slightly. The color is beautiful the neckline even prettier. Pair camel wedges, bag and a long necklace with your outfit.
